remember the fun of playing with building blocks when you were a kid? those wonderfully simple and sturdy wooden shapes that you could utilize to bring to life all sorts of magical structures? i've been thinking of these lately. someone once asked me what it is about sewing that i love the most. i told them that it was the process of cutting things up and putting them back together in a new way that tends to bring me the most satisfaction. i'm sure there are deeper, supremely analytical meanings to all of this, but i can't help but always harken back to those glorious wooden blocks from my childhood. even when someone knocked down what i built (ahem... my brother) i loved the process of the rebuild. much of my design process in the studio is like that.... so many attempts and knock-downs to land on the final pleasing result.

this is the building blocks bag. each one is comprised of 37(!) individually hand cut pieces of leather. they are fully lined in coordinating print fabrics and each one features a zippered interior pocket for holding a few essentials. a pretty leather tassel attached to the bag's zipper pull adds visual interest and ease of the bag's opening. carry the building blocks bag as a spectacular clutch or attach the long strap to wear it over your shoulder or body. the thin, elegant strap is uniquely defined by a special twisted technique and modern brass hardware. this bag is slim in profile but giving in capacity. as always, special consideration is given to design in order to keep the bag light in weight for carrying comfort.


the leathers used in the creation of this bag were sustainably sourced from cococo furniture located in north carolina. this handmade furniture company is mindful in finding ways to utilize their waste and i am proud to be partnering with them in an effort to mutually decrease our environmental footprints on this majestic planet.

the highest quality leathers are used in these bags. we use top and full grain leathers and like the fact that each hide we use shows its own natural markings and grain characteristics. each hide shows small scars, marks and color variations and we think this adds to the character of each finished piece. every part of your bag is meticulously hand cut and each ending row of stitches has been hand knotted several times to ensure a strong seam.
